Inviting team members
Creating a team is a great way to collaborate with peers on any project. If you’d like to put together your own private workspace, you have the option to make a standard (free) Canva team or a Canva for Work (paid) team.
Don’t worry, you can invite anyone to join regardless of whether or not they have a Canva account. It’s important to note, however, that inviting someone with no existing Canva account automatically ties them to the team.
Inviting members to a free team
Upon setting up your standard (free) Canva team, you’ll want to invite your team members to join so they can see updates to projects. Standard Canva users can invite up to 3000 people to join their team.
To invite new members to a free team:
- Log in to Canva.
- If applicable, switch to the team you would like to invite members to by clicking the dropdown arrow next to your profile name. From there, select the team name.
- Click on the team name from the side panel of your homepage.
- Enter the email addresses of your new team members.
- Choose your team member permissions by clicking the drop-down menu next to each email. Free teams have the option to assign members to the roles of Member and Administrator.
- Click Send invitations.
Inviting members to a Canva for Work team
With a Canva for Work (paid) team, team owners and administrators can invite an unlimited number of members to join. The workspace enables a collaborative experience without straying from your team’s standard style with the helpful Brand Kit feature. To invite new members to a Canva for Work team:
- Log in to Canva.
- If applicable, switch to the team you would like to invite members to.
- Click on the Team members tab.
- Enter the email addresses of your new team members.
- Choose your team member permissions by clicking the drop-down menu next to each email.
- Click Send invitations.
- An invitation will automatically be sent to the member’s email.

Resending invitations to team members
Sometimes members may not receive their invitations. Rest assured you can resend an invite to make sure a member is able to join your team.
To resend an invite:
- Open the Team members tab on your homepage.
- Scroll down to see the members list. Click on the team role drop-down next to the concerned user’s email.
- Select Cancel invitation. The invited member will be removed from the list.
- Invite the member again.
Paying for additional team members
Have a new recruit? Make sure they’re up to speed on your group’s important projects. Add them to your Canva for Work team, but note that subscription charges will apply as it depends on the number of teams and team members you have.
The monthly billing plan’s rate is at $US12.95 per month per team for each member – to be paid every month. The annual plan’s rate is at $US119.40 per year per team for each team member – to be paid once a year.
