How saving works in Canva

Canva automatically saves your design as you work, eliminating the need for you to do it manually.

note: This article discusses how Canva saves your designs in-app. If you wish to save a copy of your design to your computer, please refer to this article.

There are two ways to save your design, depending on your Canva editor version. Head over to our article about Canva 1.0 and 2.0 to find out which version you are using.

Saving status

When editing a design in Canva, you’ll see the phrase “All Changes Saved” displayed at the top of your dashboard, which means your design is successfully saved. This automatically happens every few seconds.

Save manually

You can also opt to manually save your work.

To save your design in Canva 2.0:

  1. Click on Design.
  2. Select Save
note: When you see the phrase “Unsaved changes” displayed, it means your recent changes did not save. In cases like this, it is best to manually save your design.

To save your design in Canva 1.0:

  1. Click on File.
  2. Select Save.

Access previously saved designs

You’ll be able to access all of your previously saved designs any-time you visit Canva, by going to the All your designs tab in your homepage.

Internet connection issue

When you get disconnected from the internet, you’ll see the status notification “Offline, attempting to reconnect…”

Once your Internet connection is reestablished, the status notification should revert back to “All changes saved”.

note: If you want to reverse an action, or to go back to the previous version of your design, simply click Undo or press Ctrl/Command Z.
