Working with text (iPad)

Styling Text

Layouts on the Canva app come with great font pairings and beautiful typesetting. To easily make changes to text styling, tap on the text box you wish to edit. This will reveal controls that will let you:

  • Copy the text box.
  • Move the text box layer up or down.
  • Delete the text box.
  • Change the transparency.
  • Change line spacing and height using the Text Spacing button.

Tapping on the text once more will reveal controls that let you:

  • Change fonts
  • Change font size
  • Change emphasis (bold, italic)
  • Change color
  • Change text alignment

note: You can edit content in any text box in the same way you would edit text anywhere else on your iPad.

To delete an entire string of content, tap the backspace button on the iPad keyboard.  To delete a specific word, long tap the word to reveal iPad’s default menu.

Adding text

To add a new text box to a layout, tap on the Text tab on the object panel. You’ll be able to select from pre-designed text boxes.

Pre-designed text boxes offer sample text with pre-fixed typefaces and layouts. To add pre-designed text boxes, browse through the options displayed below your design and tap on the one you wish to use.

Delete a text box

To delete an entire text box:

  1. Tap on the box to select it.
  2. Editing controls will appear around the text box.
  3. Tap the Trash button.
