Unsharing your designs

While Canva makes it easy for you to collaborate with your team, we also understand the need to unshare designs which were previously shared with others.

There are a number of ways to unshare your designs depending on the method you shared them.

Unsharing designs with your whole team

If you’ve shared your design with your whole team using the Show team button, you can unshare it by toggling it off.

  1. Open the design you wish to unshare.
  2. Click the Showing button from the status bar.
  3. Toggle off the Show team button.
  4. Click Save changes.

On the other hand, if you’ve shared your design with your team using the Share button, here’s how to unshare it:

  1. Open the design you wish to unshare.
  2. Click the Share button from the status bar.
  3. Click on the Can edit / Can view option beside your team name.
  4. Select Not shared.
  5. Click Save changes.

After this, your design should not appear on the Team stream or in the Shared with you tab anymore.

Unsharing design folders

If you’ve shared your designs by putting them in design folders, here are the steps to unshare them:

  1. From your Canva homepage, click on the design folder you wish to unshare.
  2. Click on the Share button.
  3. Click on the Can edit / Can view option beside your team name.
  4. Select Not shared.
  5. Click Save changes.

If you’ve shared the design folder only to certain members of the team, click on the Can edit / Can view option beside your teammate’s name instead and then select Remove.

Unsharing designs with one person

If you’ve shared your design to only one person within your team, you can unshare it using the same steps as you would unshare to your whole team.

  1. Open the design you wish to unshare.
  2. Click the Share button from the status bar.
  3. Click on the the Can edit / Can view option beside your teammate ’s name.
  4. Select Not shared.
  5. Click Save changes.

note: If you’ve shared your design to someone who isn’t a member of your team or someone who doesn’t have a Canva account, it is currently not possible to unshare it.
