Using photo filters

Photo filters can stylize or change the tone of a photo. You can easily add, change, or remove filters from photos in Canva with just a few clicks.

Add a filter


To add a filter to a photo:

  1. Click on the photo you wish to add a filter to.
  2. A dashed outline and the editor toolbar will appear. Click on the Filter button in the editor toolbar to open the filter menu and adjustment options.
  3. Click on the filter you wish to apply to the image.
  4. If you wish to adjust the intensity of the filter, use the Intensity slider directly below the filter you’ve selected.

Change the filter


To change the filter applied to a photo:

  1. Click on the photo you wish to change the filter on.
  2. Click on the Filter button in the editor toolbar to open the filter menu and advanced adjustment options.
  3. Click on the new filter you wish to use.
  4. Alternatively you can experiment with all the photo filters by clicking the Advanced options arrow to reveal all the filter options.

Remove a filter


To remove a filter from a photo:

  1. Click on the photo you wish to change the filter on.
  2. Click on the Filter button in the editor toolbar to open the filter menu and adjustment options.
  3. Click on the Normal option within the filter options.
