Apply photo filters

Photo filters can change the style or tone of a photo. You can easily add, change, or remove filters from photos in Canva with just a few clicks.

Depending on the version of your editor, depending on which version of the editor you’re using. Head over to our article about Canva 1.0 and 2.0 to find out which version you’re using.

 

Add a filter


  1. Click on the photo you wish to add a filter to. The editor toolbar will appear.
  2. Click on the Filter button from the toolbar to open the filter menu.
  3. Click on the filter you wish to apply to the image.

Adjust the filter (Canva 2.0)


  1. Click on the photo you wish to change the filter on.
  2. Click on the Adjust button from the editor toolbar.
  3. Drag on the sliders to adjust filter settings.

  1. Click on the photo you wish to change the filter on.
  2. Click on the Filter button from the editor toolbar.
  3. Click on Advanced Options from the filter menu.
  4. Drag on the sliders to adjust filter settings.

Use filter code (Canva 2.0)


If you’ve previously used a filter and you want to apply it to other photos in your design, you can apply the filter code.

  1. Click on the photo you’ve already applied a filter to.
  2. Click on the Adjust button from the editor toolbar.
  3. Take note of or copy the filter code that appears below the adjustment sliders.
  4. Click on the new photo you wish to apply the filter code on.
  5. Click on the Adjust button from the editor toolbar.
  6. Replace the existing filter code by typing or pasting the new filter code.

If you’ve previously used a filter and you want to apply it to other photos in your design, you can apply the filter code.

  1. Click on the photo you’ve already applied a filter to.
  2. Click on the Filter button from the editor toolbar.

Remove a filter (Canva 2.0)


  1. Click on the photo.
  2. Click on the Filter button in the editor toolbar.
  3. Click on None.

 

Remove a filter (Canva 1.0)


  1. Click on the photo.
  2. Click on the Filter button in the editor toolbar.
  3. Click on Normal.

note: To remove the filter, be sure to click on the Normal option even if it’s already highlighted.
