Photo folders (Canva 1.0)

With time, you’ll begin to accumulate quite a few photos on Canva. As a Canva for Work user, you can easily organize them into multiple folders to keep them neat and easy to access with Photo folders. This feature exclusive to Canva for Work users and is only available on the web app.

Photo folders also become handy when you’re working on designs that require you to use multiple photos. Instead of having to search through all your uploaded photos, you can collect related photographs into folders and access them all in one click.

note: This article discusses how to create and manage photo folders on Canva 1.0. If you’re using Canva 2.0, head over to our article on Photo folders (Canva 2.0). If you don’t know what version of Canva you’re using, head over to our article about Canva 1.0 and 2.0 to find out.

Create a photo folder

To create a new photo folder:

  1. Open a design.
  2. Click on Uploads within your object panel.
  3. Click on the New folder button.
  4. Your new folder will appear at the bottom of your Uploads section. Give your folder a descriptive name.

Upload photos to a folder

To add new photos for a photo folder:

  1. Open the design you’ll be using custom photos for. If you’re creating a new one, start a new design.
  2. Click on Uploads within your object panel.
  3. Click on the folder you wish to add photos to.
  4. Click on the green Upload your own images button to upload photos. Alternatively, you can drag them directly onto your folder to add them to it.

note: You can upload a maximum of 200 photos in one folder.

Rename photo folders

Renaming a photo folder is as simple as creating one. To change a photo folder’s name, simply click on the name and enter the new name you wish to use.

Organize your photo folders

If you feel to reorganize your photos or add more to any specific one, you can do so in three simple ways.

Here’s how:

  1. Drag and drop an image from your desktop and into the opened photo folder.
  2. Drag and drop an image from an opened photo folder to another.
  3. Select an image in your Uploads folder and click “i” on the corner of your desired photo. Select the folder destination you want to move it to.

To do so:

  1. Click on the folder you wish to share.
  2. Click on the Share button directly next to the Upload your own images button.
  3. From the dropdown, you can choose to share with your team.

Delete photo folders

Created a photo folder that is no longer useful?

To delete it:

  1. Hover over the folder you wish to delete.
  2. A small “i” will appear on the bottom left-hand corner of the folder. Click on it.
  3. Click on the Trash option displayed below the folder to delete it.

Delete uploaded photos

If you wish to delete an uploaded photo:

  1. Hover over the image you wish to permanently delete.
  2. The “i” button should appear. Click on it.
  3. Click on the Trash icon to delete the image.

To delete the photo you just uploaded, simply refresh the page and the “i” button should appear.
