Edit chart values

With Canva, charts don’t need to be boring. Choose from our selection of beautifully designed charts, input your own data, and watch the chart change before your eyes. To effectively represent your data, you can edit the value and labels of your chart.

You can edit your chart values in two ways, depending on the version of your editor. Head over to our article about Canva 1.0 and 2.0 to find out which version you’re using.

note: Ensure that your chart is editable so that you may be able to add values. Check out our Add and remove charts article for more information on this.

Edit chart values (Canva 2.0)

All charts available on Canva 2.0 can be edited. To edit your chart’s values on Canva 2.0:

  1. Click on the chart you wish to edit.
  2. Click on Edit to reveal the values table.
  3. Edit the number fields to apply data to the y-axis or vertical line. Note that these fields will only accept positive numbers.
  4. Edit the item fields to add labels on the x-axis or horizontal line.
  5. To add more values, click on the last row.
  6. To remove rows, leave them blank or delete them from the values table.
  7. Click anywhere on the editor to close the table.

note: Changes made to the chart applies real time so you’ll be able to see each inputted value right away as you work.

Edit chart values (Canva 1.0)

To edit your chart’s values on Canva 1.0, you first need to check if they can be edited. Editable charts have an “Edit” label on their thumbnails.

Once you’re sure that your chart can be edited, here are the steps to do so:

  1. Click on the chart you wish to edit.
  2. Click on Data to reveal the values table.
  3. Edit information under the Value column to apply data to the y-axis or vertical line. Note that these fields will only accept positive numbers.
  4. Edit information under the Label column to add labels on the x-axis or horizontal line.
  5. To add more values, click on the last row.
  6. To remove rows, leave them blank or delete them from the values table.
  7. Click anywhere on the editor to close the table.

note: Changes made to the chart applies real time so you’ll be able to see each inputted value right away as you work.

Apply data from a spreadsheet (Canva 2.0)

You can also automatically add data directly from a spreadsheet into a chart.

To do so on Canva 2.0:

  1. Click on the chart you wish to edit.
  2. Click on Edit.
  3. Open the spreadsheet that you want to copy data from.
  4. Select and copy the data you wish to be copied.
  5. Paste the data in the space at the bottom of the values table.
