Add and remove backgrounds

Backgrounds offer a quick and simple way to brighten your design.

There are different types of backgrounds you can use for your design:

  • Solid color backgrounds
  • Photo backgrounds
  • Illustration backgrounds
  • Gradient backgrounds

Add a solid colored background

A solid color background turns the entire backdrop of your design into a single color. You can use your brand colors or select a custom color from the color wheel.

  1. Open the Background tab in the side panel.
  2. Click on + Solid color from the Background tab.
  3. Choose a color from the color palette or click + to use the color picker.

note: You can also change the background to a solid color by clicking on the existing background and then on the color tile from the toolbar.

Add a photo, illustration or gradient background

Aside from adding solid colored backgrounds, you also have the option to add a photo, illustration, or gradient background. You can do this by going to the Background tab.

  1. Open the Background tab in the side panel.
  2. Browse through the media library to find an image.
  3. Click on the image you wish to use as a background. The image will be instantly set as your background.

Add an uploaded photo as a background

Got an uploaded photo you’d like to use as a background?

Here’s how:

  1. Click the Uploads tab.
  2. Drag and drop the photo you’d like to upload into your design. The image should instantly snap as your background.

Remove background

To remove a background:

  1. Click the background you’d like to delete.
  2. Click the Trash icon in the toolbar or press Delete / Backspace on your keyboard.

note: Removing the background of a photo or making the background transparent to show just a part of the photo is not yet a supported feature. However, you can use the Transparency feature in the toolbar to blur the background and make your text more readable.
