Migrating from FTP to SFTP
In an effort to make Canva more secure, we have built a new SFTP (Secure FTP) server to replace the existing FTP server. The migration will happen at 11 am on the 29th of November AEDT (GMT+11).
If you have been using the old FTP server to contribute to Canva, there are a few things you need to know before using the new SFTP server.
If you have been specifying a port number in the FTP program, change the port from 21 to 22 when logging in:
If you have been specifying the protocol instead of the port number, change the protocol from FTP to SFTP:
Differences you need to know
There are a few major differences between the old and the new server:
- Connecting to the new server is done via the SFTP protocol rather than the FTP protocol. This means the data transferred will be encrypted.
- With the old server, files uploaded to the server get deleted after being processed. With the new server, the files uploaded to the server do not get removed. Uploading a file with the same name will overwrite the existing one.
- If you own multiple contributor brands, you do not need to specify that in your username with the new server. Once you log in, you’ll be able to see all your brands as sub-folders. You can then upload to a particular brand by uploading it into the folder with the brand name.
