Contributor application FAQs

Canva’s mission is to empower the world to design. To do this, we need to provide all the best ingredients for users.

Join the Contributor program and share your amazing work with the world!

How does it work?

  1. Sign up for free (or log in if you have a Canva account).
  2. Apply to contribute.
  3. Upload your images.
  4. Earn money.
  5. Grow and share your portfolio.

What specific things are you looking for?

As we scale our image library, we want to focus on acquiring:

  • High-quality, commercial photography, and illustrations.
  • Photos with a modern look, current style, and a commercial sensibility.
  • Artful vector illustrations with appropriate detail and a clean finish.

Do you have a minimum age limit?

To contribute to Canva, you must be at least 18 years old or be of the minimum legal age in your country if it’s higher than 18.

Why did I not get accepted as a Canva contributor?

The most common reason your application is rejected is when the images in your portfolio aren’t what we’re looking for.

Your application may also be rejected when your portfolio includes images that do not meet the standards of the Canva Library.

You’re welcome to apply again with a different portfolio. Learn more about what we accept and reject by reading through these articles:

note: Your application will also be rejected if your portfolio contains layouts or ready-made designs. We no longer accept layout contributions as we are producing this in-house.

Why did I not get accepted as a Canva contributor?

  • Invalid links to your portfolio. This happens when we get redirected to an error message, blank page, or an irrelevant page with no images at all. Test the link before sending it.
  • Small number of images in your portfolio. Make sure you have at least 25 images in your portfolio for us to be able to make a better assessment.
  • No Canva account created yet. Create one before sending your application. This allows us to set up your brand right away once you have been accepted.
note: We’ll reach out to you for clarification if you happen to overlook the items above. Double-check these before submitting your application.

Do I give up ownership of my images once I submit them?

No. You retain ownership of your images.

Submitting images to Canva only gives us the right to sell licenses to others so they can use them. We, nor our users, cannot claim copyright to any content submitted by contributors

Do you have terms and conditions I can read more about?

Yes, we do! It’s best to read through the following pages before sending in your application:
