Contributor application FAQs

To find out more about applying to become Canva contributor, check out this page.

How does it work?

It’s simple.

  1. Sign up for free (or login if you have a Canva account).
  2. Apply to contribute.
  3. Upload your images.
  4. Earn money.
  5. Grow and share your portfolio.

What specific things are you looking for?

As we scale our image library, we want to focus on acquiring:

  • High-quality, commercial photography and illustrations.
  • Photos with a modern look, current styles, and a commercial sensibility.
  • Artful vector illustrations with appropriate detail and a clean finish.

Why did I not get accepted as a Canva contributor?

Assuming you included a valid link to your portfolio when you filled in the application form (oftentimes people forget to do this and consequently we can’t accept their application), the most common reason is that the images we’ve viewed within the portfolio aren’t what we’re seeking at the moment.

You’re welcome to apply again with a different portfolio. Before you do, have a look at our Image Submission Guide to get a better idea of the quality and type of image we’re seeking for the Canva library.

You can learn more about what we accept and reject by heading over to our Preparing Photos for Canva and Preparing Vectors for Canva article categories.

Do I give up ownership of my images once I submit them?

No, You always retain ownership of your images. Submitting images to Canva gives us the right to sell licenses to others so they can use them. We claim no copyrights in the content submitted to us by contributors nor our users.

Do you have terms and conditions I can read more about?

Yes of course we do! More about the Contributor Agreement here and our Terms of Service hereAnd the licenses we sell to our users for your images are One-Time Use, Multi-Use and Extended License agreements
