Uploading your own fonts

Using your own font is a great way to create a unique and cohesive portfolio of designs, or if you are representing a brand, is essential to keeping your designs on-brand.

As a Canva For Work subscriber, you are able to save your own custom fonts and easily apply them to any of your designs.

note: Uploading fonts, together with accessing other Brand Kit or Canva for Work features, can only be done on a desktop browser.

You can upload your own fonts via your Brand Kit:

  1. Click on the Your Brand tab from the Canva homepage.
  2. Ensure you are in your Brand Kit.
  3. Click on Upload New Font in the Uploaded Fonts section.
  4. Upload your new fonts.
  5. A popup will ask that you confirm that you have the right to use the font you’re uploading. Check the box confirming you do and click on the green Yes, Upload Away button.

If you encounter an error message while uploading your design, please ensure that you are using the correct font file format and that your font is appropriately licensed.

You can upload up to 25 of your own custom fonts with Canva For Work. If you would like to add more, simply delete an uploaded font. This will not affect any designs that have been created using the deleted font.

note: Remember, only administrators and template designers can edit your brand kit, including uploading custom fonts.

Set your custom fonts as your default fonts

You can make sure your custom fonts are always on hand when creating your designs by setting them as your default heading options.

To do so:

  1. Click on the Your Brand tab from the Canva homepage.
  2. Ensure you are in your Brand Kit.
  3. Click on the pencil to the right of the heading options to reveal formatting options.
  4. If you have already uploaded your custom font, select from the font drop-down menu. If you have not yet uploaded your font, select the Upload font option.

Document fonts

If you have uploaded fonts, you will see a “Document Fonts” section in the drop-down menu on the text toolbar. This will list all fonts used in your design.

note: This will only show if there are 2 or more fonts used in the design.

Uploading fonts with special or foreign characters/symbols

Currently, Canva fully supports languages that use the basic Latin character set: the twenty-six letters of the Latin alphabet, numbers, and punctuation.

An error may occur if the font you’re trying to upload has characters not yet supported by Canva. For more information on this, feel free to check out our Supported languages article.
